Along with the trend that people are caring more about the quality of urban living environment, urban ecology receives more and more attention. The long-term urban ecosystem monitoring and research stations (LTMRS_urban), which is the main method to track and study the long-term process in urban ecosystem, have been developed quickly around the world. Based on the analysis of the experiences and practices in establishment of LTMRS_urban domestic and abroad, we put forth the scientific objectives, organizational structure and tasks of an LTMRS_urban, especially the framework and technologies of field monitoring, manipulative experiments and social services at LTMRS_urban. These outlines, although simply, but essentially, could provide a guideline to establish LTMRS_urban in future.
