Abstract:Abstract: Meta-analysis is a quantitative and comprehensive analysis method for a series of independent research results. It has been applied to the study of ecology since the early 1990s, and it has had a significant impact on the way the data of this discipline is aggregated in this discipline. In order to explore the research status and hotspots of meta-analysis research in Ecology, this study used the core collection of Web of Science (WoS) as the retrieval database, and retrieves papers between 1992 and 2018 by inputting keywords. Statistical analysis of the retrieved literature information was conducted by using the literature analysis tool of WoS and Histcite, including the analysis of the publication and citation of basic papers in different years, countries, journals, and disciplines. In addition, the hotspot analysis and the knowledge mapping were also conducted with the CiteSpace software. It is found that there is still a gap in the improvement and utilization of meta-analysis methods in the ecological research in China compared with the United States, the United Kingdom and so on. There are more and more studies using meta-analysis methods, but there have been some changes in the research direction. Plant photosynthesis in the context of global change, the mechanism of species invasion, simulation of the impact of nitrogen cycle on vegetation phenology and productivity and the evaluation of related services have drawn growing concern and become the research frontier in this field.
