Abstract:Through analysing the trap in the stormwater management practice, we believe that if ecological knowledge was directly applied to a specific action, without transformation from the general to the specific temporal , spatial, and social context, as a result, we can not achieve the desirable goal. Based on the concept of ecological widom(EW), we consider that EW for and from ecological practice can bridge the gap between ecological knowledge and practice, and can inspire urban stormwater management actions. Lastly, this paper points out several revelations of EW for stormwater management practice: Urban stormwater management rules based on the natural process and disperse utilization based on the catchment should be advocated; to improve ability of urban stormwater management, community should be consider as an crucial unit; based on technical and social dynamic feedback, adaptive management program should be constructed; we should integrate the short-term action into the long-term goal.
