Abstract:The Donghu Lake,in Hube Province,is selected as a typical eutrophic water for the study.The off flavor compounds from different locations monthly were indentified and monitored in the years from 1995 to 1996.Meanwhile,the species and biomasses for algae and bacteria were identified and counted.It was found that the principal compound producing earthy musty odors in the Donghu Lake was 2 methylisobornel (MIB),which came from the secondary metabolites of P.tenue and Actinomycets.
